• To avoid putting team members at risk, please ensure that staff open and close the shop in pairs. Instruct team members to call the GM if the second member of staff does not arrive to open or close the shop.
• Train team members to assess whether it is safe to open or close the shop and to be aware of threatening individuals in close proximity. If they do not feel it is safe to open or close the shop, instruct them to phone the GM or Ops for assistance.
• Make sure team members are briefed to lock the shop from the inside when the shop is not open to the public.
• Ensure your team members are trained to cash up out of sight, in a locked room (whenever possible).
• Ensure your CCTV covers high risk areas and is fully operational. [There is a monthly CCTV check on Trail that must be completed to confirm this].
• If your team feels unsafe, discuss with your Ops the possibility of employing external security contractors during high-risk “conflict” hours.
